Central storage and management of topology documents

As part of the Talking Traffic community, the Traffic Live Exchange Platform facilitates real-time messages from and to traffic lights. All new generation traffic lights, so-called intelligent Traffic Lights Controllers (iTLCs), are connected to TLEX in a single national platform. But, to interpret the data of each traffic light requires a detailed description of the topology of the intersection at which the traffic light is located, the so-called MAP topology (MAP is an international ETSI standard). Central storage was needed because companies and road authorities use these MAP topologies throughout the Talking Traffic value chain.

Central storage for topologies

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has commissioned Monotch to build this central storage for topologies, Topolex. The naming, uploading, validating, viewing and downloading of topology documents is managed on this platform. Moreover, via Topolex, everyone interested can access all topology- and supporting documents. Topolex also has a fully automatic connection with TLEX.
