Interface to unlock ITS data from traffic control installations
A unique Smart Mobility implementation programme has been set up within the province of Noord-Holland, which will be implemented in 2018 and 2019 (with an extension to 2020). This implementation programme aims to contribute to the local challenges for mobility, urbanisation, energy and economic transition and liveability. The emphasis on mobility is on a change to smart, clean and safe mobility, where the user is key. The programme looks into which new technologies and innovations can successfully contribute to this.
Smart Mobility programme pillars
The programme consists of four pillars:
data and information,
physical and digital infrastructure,
Mobility as a Service (Maas).
Projects have been worked out for each of these pillars that lead to the execution of studies, conducting tests and trying out pilots in practice.
The province has now set up a testing ground for this on the provincial roads around Schiphol. Attention is paid to bicycle, car, freight, bus traffic, and shipping within the programme. Several Intelligent Traffic Light Control Systems (iTLCs) have been put into use within this testing ground.
Unlocking data from roadside equipment and traffic controllers
For a number of ITS test projects within the Smart Mobility implementation programme, including CONCORDA, it is necessary to disclose the ITS data of these iTLCs to third parties via a standard interface, which transmits the ETSI messages from the iTLCs. The IF2 interface developed on TLEX has been chosen for this purpose. Monotch unlocked the data from roadside equipment and traffic controllers and made the data communication available in ETSI via an IF2 interface for service providers.
The plug and play character of TLEX proved its value, enabling the connected service providers to get access to the data well within the deadlines, and even more importantly, with a minimum of latency and a maximum of security.
