CITY ACCESS
Conditional city access for designated traffic
Use Cases
Having a liveable city centre with an attractive residential and economic climate is crucial to the attractiveness of a city. However, those two qualities often create a field of tension with between the residents, shops, and visitors, as traffic becomes an issue with the visiting cars and distribution trucks traveling through the city centre. Consequently, the term “low-traffic” occurs frequently in policy of many cities.
With retractable bollards and poles connected to Monotch’s TLEX platform, a dynamic solution is created to bring the balance between restricting access and allowing designated traffic conditionally into the city centre. As a result, the city centre remains accessible, but there will never be more traffic than necessary in the area.
How TLEX works for city access
Benefits for cities
The main benefit of this use case is the balance and control that is given to authorities to execute their traffic access policies in city centres, which may include:
- Restricting car traffic to local traffic only
- Setting policies for access control for designated traffic, e.g. electric vehicles only
- Granting access to emergency services when needed
